SIDNEY - Funeral service for Victor Marker, 94, of Sidney, is 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, at the Ebenezer Congregational Church in Sidney, with Pastor David Meehan officiating. Interment will be in the Sidney Cemetery under the direction of Fulkerson Funeral Home of Sidney, MT. Remembrances and condolences may be shared with the family at www.fulkersons.com.
Vic was born on Oct. 3, 1914, at his grandfathers' farm house in Park City, to Jacob and Katherine (Benner) Marker. He had two brothers and five sisters. Vic attended country school in Billings. In 1935, the family moved to Harlem, where he helped his parents' farm. When not busy farming, he conditioned himself for the boxing matches he enjoyed along with his brother, Herman.
On Sept. 12, 1940, he married Christina Jaeger in Billings, where they continued to live while he worked at Pierce Packing Co. In 1942, they moved to Savage to start their farming career together. In 1944, they rented a farm north of Sidney, where they stayed until purchasing his father's farm south of Sidney. Vic and Tina had three sons and one daughter. Vic continued to live on the farm until his recent hospitalization.
Vic enjoyed his family. He participated as a leader in the 4-H Club, was a school board member, and recently became a life member of the Moose Lodge 856. Vic was a member of the Ebenezer Congregational Church.
Vic touched many lives with his wonderful smile and tender manner. Many wonderful and lasting memories were made on the farm with him. We know that he is probably riding around in heaven on his four-wheeler and now without anyone telling him to be careful. Vic lived a full life and was always willing to help out his fellow man. Truly a great father and wonderful grandfather. Thank you and love you!
