Charles Fool Bear
CANNON BALL - Charles "Max" Fool Bear, 40, died July 1, 2007, at his home in Cannon Ball. Services will be held at noon Saturday, July 7, at the Cannon Ball Youth Center with the Revs. John Floberg, Buford Marsh and Anton American Horse Jr. presiding. Burial will be in St. James Episcopal Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at the Cannon Ball Youth Center.
Charles "Max" Fool Bear, the son of Charles Jr. and Agatha (Ireland) Fool Bear, was born May 7, 1967, in Fort Yates. He was self-employed as a construction contractor for many years.
Charles was a giving and helpful man to everyone he knew. He enjoyed volunteering his time as a security officer and was always ready to offer assistance to any member of his family. His children were the highlight of his life and he enjoyed taking care of them. He also made time to spend with his family and friends.
Singing was one of Charles' greatest gifts and interests. He would often write and sing his own songs and was a member of the Cannon Ball Singers as well as the head singer of the Sinteska Singers.
Singing was only one of Charles' many interests and hobbies. He enjoyed attending powwows, carpentry, playing pool, hunting, fishing and auto mechanic work. He was also a skilled quilter and made beautiful star quilts and blankets.
Charles' wonderful voice and giving manner will be forever missed by his three daughters, Jennifer Rose Fool Bear, Fort Yates, and Breanne White Lightning and Violet Rayne Fool Bear, both of Cannon Ball; four sons, Charles Alston Snider and Robin Scott Snider, both of Bismarck, and Lawrence Red Stone and Francis Joshua Fool Bear, both of Cannon Ball; three sisters, Linda M. Skogstad, Bismarck, Eileen Long Chase, Cannon Ball, and Roberta Bell, New Town; two adopted sisters, Rita Childs, Prairie Island, Minn., and Rhea Martinez Archambault, McLaughlin, S.D.; five brothers, Melvin Medicine Horse, Fort Yates, Duane W. Fool Bear Sr., Roosevelt, Utah, and Archie D. Fool Bear, Clint M. Fool Bear Sr., and Robert W. Fool Bear Sr., all of Cannon Ball; one adopted brother, Dennis Childs, Prairie Island, Minn.; and one grandchild.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents.
