Ella Sailer Obituary
MINOT -- Ella E. Sailer, 75, 1916 12th St. N.W., Minot, formerly of Garrison and Bismarck, died Dec. 9, 2002, in a Minot nursing home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Minot. Graveside services will be at 2:15 p.m. CST today in Stanton Cemetery, rural Stanton.
Ella Eugena Link was born May 9, 1927, the daughter of Karl and Katherina (Horning) Link in Stanton. She was raised and educated in the Hazen and Beulah areas and attended Stanton High School.
Ella was united in marriage to Ruben Sailer on Dec. 25, 1944, in Stanton. They made their home in Stanton, while her husband was employed by the Corps of Engineers and by Peter Kiewitt as a heavy equipment operator. They moved to Minot in 1956, where she was employed by Trinity Hospital and by the Minot Public Schools. They then moved to their lake home on Lake Sakakawea. Ruben died Feb. 25, 1994. Ella continued to live there until 1996, when she moved to Bismarck.
Ella was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and was involved with the Ladies Aide within the church. She was also a member of Shepherd of the Valley Church of Bismarck and Peace Lutheran Church of Garrison, the Bismarck American Legion Auxiliary, the LWML and the Minot Merry Mixers Square Dance Club.
Ella enjoyed square dancing, cooking, canning, baking and gardening, especially flowers and wildflowers.
She is survived by her children, Marlene (LeRoy) Schoffstall, Marlyn Sailer and Jeffrey Sailer, all of Minot, Larry (Beverly) Sailer, Bismarck, and David (Colleen) Sailer, Alexandria, Minn.; her grandchildren, Pamela (Byron) Borlaug, Brad and Karl Schoffstall, Brent, Brian, Brock and Kyla Sailer, Amy (Matt) Ritter, Alecia Sailer and Scott Sailer; her great-grandchildren, Jessica, Erica and Monica Borlaug, Gavyn Sailer and Autumn, Krystle, Michael and Olivia Schoffstall; her brothers and sister-in-law, Emil Link, Hazen, and Henry and Lillian Link, Bismarck; her sisters, Frieda Szczur, Garrison, and Emma Burrell and Ida Buxbaum, both of Crown Point, Ind.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ella was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brother, Alvin.
Memorials are preferred to a church of the donor's choice. (Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot)
