On Dec. 13, 2014, we lost a great man. Glen Kuether was 77 when the good Lord took him home. He left behind a family who misses him dearly. Glen was born Aug. 22, 1937, in New Salem and grew up in nearby Hannover.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosella Henke; his father, David Kuether; his siblings, Marvin, Joyce and Joan; as well as his son-in-law, Dean and many other friends and relatives.
Glen is survived by his wife of 52 years, Diane; his sister, Shari (George), New York; his three daughters, Tricia (Jody), Jessica (Mark), and Shila (James); his granddaughters, Monica, Makenzie, Soleil and Aubrey; and his grandson, Garett, as well as many other great friends and relatives.
He was a jack of all trades and had many jobs and hobbies over the years, but always missed farming and rodeo. He always talked about the wonderful people, stories, and memories, and always wished he could ride another bareback horse. He also enjoyed playing pinochle with his many card playing buddies and his uncle, Clarence Henke of New Salem.
He was someone who his daughters remember as being able to do anything, being very brave, and always believing in them. He always made sure they had a good horse and he loved their mom more than anything. He adored his grandchildren and was extremely proud of them.
Glen was known for his incredible strength and his soft heart (he often got a tear in his eye when his heart ached for someone), always lending a helping hand to anyone in need, the twinkle in his eye, and his million-dollar smile. He will live on in our hearts and memories always.
