Helen was one of 11 children born to Marius and Jensine (Jensen) Nielsen in Lakeville, Minn., on June 5, 1917. At the age of 17 years, she left for Minneapolis and took over the duties of running a home for a family that did a lot of entertaining. In the evening, she attended night school studying business courses. As she got a little older, she went to work for Dr. Silas Andersen, a general practitioner physician, and managed his office and did other nursing duties for about 10 years. Then she met Bob Huseby and her life changed. When World War II started, they decided to hold off on marriage until Bob returned from serving with the U.S. Marines. They were married on Feb. 9, 1946. Three boys were born to them, Jack, Paul and Phillip. In 1952, they moved to Bismarck where they have resided since.

She enjoyed golfing, camping and spending the last 20 winters in Texas. She also enjoyed volunteer work and handwork, especially teaching tatting the past 10 years.

Surviving Helen are her husband, Robert, Bismarck; her sons, Jack (Carol) Huseby, Bismarck, and Phillip Huseby, Fargo; her step-grandchildren, Mark and Beth Mankey; three sisters, Ruth Randall, Myrtle Loveland and Jeanette (Marlin) Johnson; one brother, Irving (Millie) Nielsen; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Helen in death were her son, Paul Huseby; her mother and father; four brothers, Raymond, Lester, George and Verne; and two sisters, Violet and Gladys.
