James Teske Obituary

James "Jim" Teske

MANDAN - James "Jim" Teske, 77, Mandan, ND passed away surrounded by his family, Friday, February 23, 2023, at Sanford Health, Bismarck. A Visitation will be held 5-7 PM, Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, February 29, 2024, at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service.

Jim was born March 1, 1946, in Steele, to Edward and Dorothy (Wise) Teske. He was the youngest of 10 children and was raised and educated in Steele. In 1971, Jim married Margo Kopp in Mandan and renewed their vows in a church in 1985. In the many years he worked driving trucks, which was his passion. Jim worked for multiple companies and if he was driving truck, he was happy. He received multiple driving awards, including the Accident Free Safe Driving Award. In his free time, he loved camping, fishing, playing poker with the family, and numerous card games. Jim also cherished spending time with his family and friends.

As he got older Jim formed relationships with his coffee group frequenting multiple places around town. He also enjoyed time at the senior center for lunch and playing bingo. He enjoyed playing/going out for dart nights with his children and grandchildren, heckling them "hit the center" and keeping score. He even earned the title "score keeper". Jim loved using his mechanical skills to work on older vehicles. There wasn't a holiday or birthday that he would miss, his family was the most important thing to him. He loved seeing his great grandchildren and making memories.

He is survived by three sons, Rick (Kay) Teske, Wing, ND, George (Sheila Kraft) Teske, Mandan, Mike Teske, Bismarck; two daughters, Jan Teske, Mandan, Alicia Teske, Bismarck; nine grandchildren, June, James, Trenton, Travis, Alexis (Bryce), Anthony (Kathryn), Bryan, Brandon (April), and Kiara (Josh); nine great grandchildren; one sister, Laverne (Ron) Nelson; numerous nieces and nephews; and many special friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Bob, LeRoy, David, Edward, and Gene; three sisters, Marilyn, Geraldine "Dino", and Patrcia; and his one true love, Margo Kopp.

The family would like to thank the First Responders, and everyone involved in the care that he received after the accident. Also, a special thank you to the medical staff at Sanford.

Funeral arrangements are being made with DaWise-Perry / Mandan Crematory, Mandan, North Dakota.
