Joe Hilzendeger
Joe Hilzendeger, husband, father of two sons, four grandsons and one granddaughter was born Oct. 10, 1937, to Wendelin and Marcella (Feist) Hilzendeger. He grew up on the family farm in Logan County with his four sisters and seven brothers. Joe served in the U.S. Military from 1957 to 1959 and was recalled to active duty in 1961 serving until honorably discharged in January 1963. He married Florence Marquart in 1965. Joe enjoyed playing pinochle, fishing, farming and ranching.
Joe entered his heavenly home on Sunday, July 4, 2021. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Friday, July 9, 2021 at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit. Visitation is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. with a rosary service at 7 p.m. Thursday at DaWise-Perry/Mandan Crematory, 4211 Old Red Trail, Mandan. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Florence; sons Perry (Patty) of Van Meter, Iowa and their children Nik of Van Meter, Iowa and Sean of Iowa City, Iowa; and Randy (Cori) of Baldwin and their children Cody (Hilary) of Avon, S.D.; Cara (special friend Craig) of Durant, Okla.; and Cael of Baldwin.
