John Gullickson Obituary

FORT YATES -- John Charles Gullickson, Fort Yates, died June 11, 2004, at St. Cloud, Minn. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 18, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Fort Yates with the Revs. William Cosgrove and George Maufort officiating. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. today at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan, with a rosary service being said at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 10 a.m. to the time of the services at the church.

John was born Aug. 29, 1951, at Fort Yates, N.D., to Owen and Elizabeth (Silk) Gullickson. He graduated from Solen High School in 1969, where he was class president. He joined the Marines and served in Vietnam from 1969 to 1973. John worked as an electrician for various companies and later started his own independent electric company, Lakota Electric in Fort Yates. He was a member of the Bismarck VFW and was very skilled with electronics.

He is survived by his father, Owen Gullickson; his wife, Terri, Fort Yates; three daughters, Shannon, Mandan, and Elizabeth and Tara Kay, both of Fort Yates; one son, William Gullickson, McLaughlin, S.D.; six sisters and one brother-in-law, Joan Silk, Rapid City, S.D., Janet Gullickson, Rapid City, and Kay, Karen, Margo Gullickson and Mary G. and Martin Walker, all of Fort Yates; three brothers, Kenny Gullickson, Fort Yates, Larry Bodin, Pine Ridge, S.D., and Carl Winters, Taos, N.M.; one grandson, Carlos Cruz Gullickson; three uncles and one aunt, Aaron and Bernice Gullickson, Cannon Ball, C. Dale Gullickson, Mandan, Warren Gullickson, Bismarck; and several nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth; and his aunt, Tillie Gullickson.
