Joseph Vetter Obituary

Joseph F. Vetter, 68, 1208 N. Fourth St., died April 19, 1998, at his home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Thomas Marcis officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Wednesday, and for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday, both at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan. A prayer service and rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Perry Funeral Home.

Joseph was born April 2, 1930, at Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Allois and Emilia (Bosch) Vetter. His family moved to Linton where he was raised. They moved to Bismarck in 1934 and he attended schools in Bismarck. Joseph farmed north of McKenzie. In 1973, he moved to Bismarck and continued to farm until 1978. He then worked as a custodian at Hughes Middle School until retiring in 1991. He married Theresa Wohl Roe on Aug. 2, 1982 in Towner.

Joe loved fishing and his hobby was making fishing tackle. He also loved visiting and joking with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa; four daughters and one son-in-law, MaryEllen Taylor, Kent, Wash., Karen Vetter, Bismarck, Julie Vetter, Fargo, and Jodie and Estanislado White, McKenzie; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Kevin and Kathy Vetter, and Keith Vetter, all of Bismarck, and Tom Vetter, Fargo; three stepdaughters and one stepson-in-law, Sonya and Darrel Heydt, Mandan, Pattie Roe, Tennessee, and Laurie Roe, Mandan; three stepsons and their spouses, Alvin and Julie Roe, Bismarck, Monte and Janet Roe, Center, and Barry and Cindy Roe, Mandan; three sisters, Barbara Peircy, Tacoma, Wash., Betty and John Wagner, Spokane, Wash., and Katie Qualls, Florence, Ky.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Rose, and Frank and May, all of Braddock; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jake, Kris and Ole; and two sisters, Martha and Helen. (Perry Funeral Home, Mandan)
