Oosting van Obituary

HENSLER -- Lydia van Oosting, 82, Hensler, died

July 26, 1997, in her home near Hensler after a

long illness. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday

at United Methodist Church, Washburn, with the

Revs. Phil Lint and Mary-Lee Lint officiating.

Burial will be in Hensler Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. today at

Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn, and will continue at

the church one hour before services.

Lydia Belle Fisher was born Dec. 10, 1914, near

Hensler, to Fred and Frances (Gregory) Fisher. She

grew up on her parent's farm in the Sanger and

Hensler areas, where she attended rural school.

She graduated from Hensler High School. She

attended Christy's Beauty School in Bismarck. She

married Anno van Oosting, Dec. 19, 1936, at

Bismarck. They lived on a farm south of Hensler

until 1944 when they moved to a farm just north of

Hensler where they raised turkeys. They named

their farm the Skyline Ranch and enjoyed the

farming life. Anno died April 23, 1989. Lydia

continued to make her home on the farm and enjoyed

visiting with family and friends. In her early

years she enjoyed square dancing.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law,

Patsy and Dwight Duke, Hensler; three

grandchildren, Jonathan, Edward and Annola Duke;

four great-grandsons, Justin, Jordan, Jason and

Jacob Duke; and two brothers, Clarence, Hensler,

and Merril, Renton, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her

husband, seven brothers and three sisters.
