Scott Thorson
ARENA - Scott Elliot Thorson, 29, Arena, passed away on May 14, 2008, at his home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Wilton, with the Rev. Chris Kadrmas officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, rural Wing.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Bismarck Funeral Home with a vigil service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Tuesday.
Scott E. Thorson was born Aug. 12, 1978, in Minot, to Steve and Roberta (Eide) Thorson. In 1979, he moved with his parents to Spring, Texas, where his three brothers and sister were born. In 1986, the family moved to the farm in North Dakota, where he most recently lived. Scott, with his parent's brothers and sister, worked the family farm and produced and sold vegetables at the Bismarck Farmers Market. He graduated in 1997 from Wing High School. He had attended Bismarck State College, North Dakota State University and Dickinson State University.
During high school, Scott attended Boys State and was a member of the state honor choir. He was very active in sports, playing baseball and basketball with the Wing/Tuttle High School Co-Op and football with the Wing/Wilton Co-op. Scott was very active in 4-H and was an avid horseman. He also loved music, playing the guitar and singing. He wrote many songs and loved to perform.
Scott was a devoted father to his little son, Lane, who was the light of his life.
He is survived by his son, Lane; his parents, Steve and Roberta (Eide) Thorson, Arena; three brothers, Chad (Sara), Wilton, and Christian and Kyle, both of Grand Forks; one sister, Kelsey, Fargo; his grandparents, Ingvald and Rose Eide and Ruby and Joe Schaff, all of Bismarck; and two nieces, McKenzie and Jordyn Thorson, Wilton. Scott had a giant heart and had many friends. Among his special friends were: Dayna Engst, Josh Hickel, Bridget Hellman and Joe McCauley, all of Bismarck; a special uncle and devoted friend, Jim McIntyre, Bismarck; and many other relatives and friends.
Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elmer and Shirley Thorson.
