Anita Sue Nicholson

1930 - 2017

Anita Sue Nicholson, 86, of Etowah, died Monday, June 26, 2017 peacefully at her residence. She was born December 29th, 1930 in Cleveland Tennessee; a daughter of the late Dewey Ballard and Reba Pickett Ballard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Evan Nicholson in 1998 and her daughter Carolyn Sue Griffin in 2016.
Both of Anita's daughters served in the United States Navy which provided Anita the pleasure of road trips to numerous bases and wonderful adventures along the way. Anita enjoyed quilting, crosstitch, reading, cooking, gardening, along with loving her family and loving the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 54 years. She was proud of her 50 year pin. Anita was well loved by her family and her many friends. She will be truly missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Jean Zugell and her husband Jeffrey Zugell of Houston, TX; and son in law Curtis Griffin; Granddaughter Christine Blackwell and her husband Jon Blackwell; Grandson Glenn Griffin; Sister Elizabeth Morrow of Belleville, MI and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday; June 29th, 2017 at Thos. Shepherd Church Street Chapel with the Reverend Brian Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Forest Cemetery in Etowah, NC.
Her family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at Thos. Shepherd & Son.
