Effie Cron Obituary
Effie Maxine Cron, 85, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025, in Springfield.
Effie was born in Wishart, on Jan. 23, 1940, to Loyal "Dude" and Pearl Cossins. She graduated from Morrisville High School.
She Met Richard Cron in the fall of 1958, marrying in Aldrich, on January 11, 1959.
To this union, three children were born, Denzil Cron, Coleen Barham, and Connie Rowland.
She was employed at Zenith TV for most of her career, with the final years at Tyson Foods prior to her retirement. In her early years of retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at Mercy Hospital, always eager to go to work when the OATS van showed up in her driveway.
Although various life moments prevented her from being at church services in person, she enjoyed listening to sermons whenever she could on the radio.
She enjoyed the outdoors, going fishing, looking at various flowers on country drives, and the simpler things nature has to offer. Effie will be remembered for her giving spirit to anyone and everyone she met.
The relentless trips to "Red Rack Thrift Store" would end up with a haul that she continually passed out to nieces, nephews, or surrounding neighbors knowing an upcoming visit would provide the opportunity to lavish the recipient with a tiny trinket, a toy, or even another pair of Khaki pants that were not needed or worn after receiving them.
The huge smile on her face would be equally met by the one receiving, along with a quick hug before she went on to the next in line. For those that were on the road for more than an hour or so, after a visit, they would be given a can of Pepsi, a Nutty Bar, or a small box of Russell Stover chocolates for all that was in the car to be able to make the long trip home.
She was preceded in death by Loyal "Dude" and Pearl Cossins (parents), Coleen Cron Barham (daughter), George Cossins (brother), and Vera Dickerson (sister).
Effie is survived by Denzil Cron (son) and Connie Rowland (daughter), Dakota Cron (grandson), Aria Cron-Burnside (great-granddaughter), more nieces and nephews than can be counted, and her partner Jerry Price of many years.
A visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, at Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar. Funeral services will take place after the visitation beginning at 12 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Enon Cemetery in Wishart.
Memorial contributions can be made to Arc of the Ozarks.
