Gordon Eugene Forrest

1947 - 2025

Gordon Eugene Forrest was born May 5, 1947, in Modesto, California to the late Willard Gordon Forrest and Goldie (Hicks) Forrest. He graduated from Bolivar High School in 1966. He served in the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1968, where he received the Purple Heart and other medals. He was united in marriage to Helen (Short) Forrest on Sept. 24, 1971, in Halfway. To this union, Brian, Amanda, and Josh were born. He was saved at an early age. He later joined Halfway Missionary Baptist Church on June 25, 2023. He had a long-term profession as a tree trimmer. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting, and nature. He loved his cats and dogs, and he never met a stranger. He was rarely ever seen without a smile on his face. He was a devoted husband and father that loved being with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Goldie, and his three brothers, Bobby, Mearl, and Alvin.

Gordon is survived by his wife Helen; his children, Brian, Amanda, and Josh; his sister, Reba, and husband Mike Greer; his grandchildren, Joseph, Sarai, Rachel, Isaac, Ella, and Harper; great-grandchildren, Khloe, Hudson, and Hunter. He is also survived by other relatives, family, and many dear friends.

Services for Gordon will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 18, at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar.
