George Hepburn Obituary
Maj. George Henry Hepburn, Jr. USAF (Ret.) 91, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 in Sandpoint, Idaho. Funeral services and military honors will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint.
George was born on May 16, 1933 in Providence, Rhode Island to George and Martha Hepburn, Sr. He was raised by his grandparents after his parents divorced. His Aunt Grace, a college student at the time was his example and guide through early school and beyond. He was sponsored to Lenox Prep School in Lenox, MA, where he graduated in 1951.
George entered the United States Air Force in 1955 and served on a flying crew as navigator doing aerial refueling in Vietnam. He retired as a Major in 1975, returned to college and earned his MBA.
He worked as Director of Administration in Saudi Arabia for five years in Dhahran and Tief. He then settled in Dunnellon, FL, where he worked for the State of Florida helping Veterans. He then retired again to Sandpoint, ID in 1998.
He enjoyed gardening, astronomy, camping, square dancing, golf and tennis. He was active in the Shriner's and Mason's and belonged to Lakeside Lodge #42 in Sandpoint and Limestone Lodge of Maine.
George married Marilyn McDivitt, they shared many happy times with family and friends as well as regular sessions of bridge at the senior center.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn McDivitt-Hepburn of Sandpoint; five children George Hepburn, III, Judith Heslep, Robert Hepburn, Susan Hepburn, and David Hepburn; 13 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Joyce Lattanzio, three wives Lorraine 2019, Carol 2005, and Susan in 2015, and one son William 2022.
Memorial donations may be made to the Shriner's Children Hospital, 911 W. Fifth Ave, Spokane, WA 99204.
