Kenny Leen Obituary

Kenny and Moreen Leen, 81 & 79

Some bonds are so unbreakable that no tangible or intangible force can interfere or break them.

Kenneth Leen, (Kenny), 81, of Sandpoint, passed in the morning hours on December 14th, 2022, followed quickly by Moreen Leen, 79, of Sandpoint, in the early morning hours on December 15th, 2022.

As a good friend of Kenny and Moreen recently said after their passing, "It is agreed, without any thought, that this was a love story for the ages." There was no way that one could exist on any plane without the other.

Kenny, sometimes also remembered as Peeno or Leanin' Kenny Leen, has left a legacy across the country through the work he did building bridges. When you drive over the long bridge in Sandpoint, remember Kenny Leen.

A man of many talents, Kenny will also be remembered for his service to the U.S. Army, his stock car antics, his Bloomsday streaks, elk hunting adventures, and, of course, his famous stories. No one can tell a story like Kenny Leen. In his retirement, Kenny also raised pigs for 4-H youth.

Moreen left a legacy through her lifelong contribution to the equine and 4-H communities.

Fiercely dedicated to her passions, Moreen will be remembered for all of her time committed to her 4-H group, the Sagle Saddle Tramps, and for her loyal promotion of the Appaloosa breed through the Spots Of Fun open horse shows. When you see an appy or sit in those grandstands, remember Moreen Leen.

Together, Kenny and Moreen left their joint legacy: their family, their friends, and their dedication to each other. Having met, raised their family, and continued residing on their farm in Sandpoint, the couple made countless friendships and memories. They will be remembered on the chairlifts of Schweitzer, on both west and east coasts, on the Bonner County Fairgrounds, and in the mountains of their traditional elk campsite. They will be remembered for their Famous Pig Roasts and the innumerable laughs shared. To accurately represent how loved and missed they will be would require over 160 years of words and the contribution of hundreds.

Kenny and Moreen are survived by their children: Lewis and Rockett Leen, Kendra and Eric Keil, and Moriha and Matt Yetter, their siblings: Ina Loman, Ruth Hirst, Vonnie Short, Myron Lane, and Maxeen Evans, their grandchildren, their great grandchildren, and so many cherished friends.
