Rudolph Gerhardt Obituary

Rudolph F. "Rudy" Gerhardt, 93, of Boonville passed away Tuesday morning December 5, 2017 at Ashley Manor Care Center.
Visitation for Rudy will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8 at Howard Funeral Home with a rosary being recited at 5:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9 at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Peckman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors.
Rudolph F. Gerhardt was born February 6, 1924 in Boonville, Mo. the son of August Gerhardt and Flora Stegner Gerhardt. Rudy married Virginia M. Gerke on September 12, 1946 at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Rudy was an active member of the SS Peter and Paul Parish. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1061 where he was a Grand Knight. He was also a Navigator for the 4th degree Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed working the Knights of Columbus, Friday Night Bingo. Rudy served in the Army during WWII. He was a member and Post Commander of the Boonville VFW. He volunteered at the Boonville Senior Center, delivering Meals on Wheels. He really enjoyed being with family and playing a good game of pitch.
Rudy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Virginia, daughter, Patricia Louise, brothers, Daniel, Elmer, Hillard and Edgar and sister, Helen McClary. He is survived by his son, Kenneth Gerhardt and wife Linda of St. Louis, Mo., son-in-law, David Fulks. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Jeffery Gerhardt and Christopher Fulks, and great-grandchildren, Mia, Miles and Eleanor Gerhardt and Samantha, Sydney and Logan Fulks.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the S.S. Peter and Paul Educational Foundation. Online remembrances may be left at: www.howardfh.com.

I have known Rudy and his family for many years. He always had a kind word and smile for everyone. He will be missed by all but I know that he is now happy with his family that is already in heaven. Rest in peace, Rudy. Prayers and my sincere condolences to his family.
