ALAN BRUNO "AL" PICCIN

PICCIN, Alan Bruno "Al" Age 89, veteran of the Big Band Era, passed away on August 15, 2024. Alan was a professional, multi-instrumental musician who played saxophone, clarinet and flute. His impressive career spanned many decades. Early in his career, he toured with the bands of Woody Herman, Artie Shaw, Doc Severinsen, the Boston Pops and countless others. After marrying in the late 1950s and tired of constant travel, Al focused on working in the night clubs, theaters and recording studios of New York, Las Vegas and Boston, which led him to work with legends such as Frank Sinatra, Nat "King" Cole and Tony Bennet. He also spent time as a pit orchestra musician for Broadway musicals. Mr. Piccin is survived by his wife, Leslie Svilokos of Sheffield, MA; son, Luca Piccin of Los Angeles, CA; daughter, Lisa Grant of Santa Barbara, CA; son, Jason Piccin of Newton, MA; brother, John Piccin of Ocala, FL; sister, Bruna Piccin of Durham, NC; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his daughter, Amy Piccin, who passed away in 2021. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services.
