ANDREW JOHNSON Obituary

JOHNSON, Andrew "Andy" Pickens Age 99, formerly of Wayland, died on October 6, 2025, at the Hebrew Senior Life and Rehabilitation Center in Boston, following a period of declining health. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on June 18, 1937 the son of the late Pickens Johnson and Margaret (Barclay) Johnson. Andy was the husband of the late Alice "Allia" Mayhew (Gibson) Johnson who died on December 17, 2023. He was the brother of the late Barclay Delay Johnson. He is survived by their dear friend, Sister Adele Marie Ryan, SSM of the Society of St. Margaret in Duxbury. Andy was educated at the North Shore Country Day School in Winnetka, Illinois, with the Class of 1955. He received his undergraduate degree and his master's from Harvard University in 1959 and attended Seabury Western Theological with the class of 2005. Andy had a long and distinguished career as an Actuary with John Hancock Insurance Company before retiring. He enjoyed reading, was an active Rotarian in his earlier years and a member of Sangerfest. He was devoted to his Episcopalian faith and was a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church throughout his lifetime. He served as a choir member, an acolyte, with the church vestry and as a warden. Private interment was held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, in Lakeview Cemetery, next to his wife, Alice. A Memorial Service in Celebration of his Life will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 2:00 o'clock, at St. Anne's in the Field Episcopal Church, 147 Concord Rd., Lincoln, with the Reverend Joseph Kimmel officiating. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Andy's memory may be sent to the North Shore Country Day School, 310 Green Bay Rd., Winnetka, IL 60093. Arrangements entrusted to the care of the John C.
