I have not seen Andy in a number of years but he has always had a special place in my heart. I send lots of love to Rachel and to Holly, to those who have been close to him in these years, and to all who have been touched by him. We have lost a deep beautiful, complicated, soulful, loving man.

Dear Holly, Rachel, and friends of Andy, my thoughts are with you. We have lost a wonderful, complicated and deep thinking man...writer, teacher, supervisor and analyst. Despite his great struggles with illness, Andy was extraordinarily generous, tactful and kind. Of all the things I treasure about him, his ability to be in "the not knowing" is perhaps the finest and the rarest.

My heart felt condolences to Andy's family. He was a medical school classmate of mine and will be remembered for his brilliance, wit and plain decency.

One of the sad realities of life is that one has (if lucky!!!) too many wonderful friends and too little time to keep in touch with them. I haven't seen or communicated with Andy for almost half a century, but I recall him distinctly and with respect and fondness. I recall he lived at #2 Fifth Avenue before med school, and that he was unequivocally committed toi psychiatry from the very outset. l. My condolences to all who loved and admired him - and for sure I will do my very best to be at the memorial service. Bob Newman ("Nifty")
