ANTHONY LEONARD "TONY" SERRA

1949 - 2025

SERRA, Anthony "Tony" Leonard Age 76, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away peacefully, on September 29, 2025. Tony was born on March 29, 1949, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Anthony and Josephine Serra. Tony grew up in Belmont, Massachusetts and after high school, served in the U.S. Army Infantry in the Vietnam War. After completing his honorable service to our nation, Tony started his own construction business and built houses for over 20 years. While operating his own business, Tony went to Bentley College, where he earned his degree in accounting. Tony applied his accounting skills to serve his nation again as a government civilian in the IRS for 20 years. Tony had many great lifelong friends who shared his passion for the outdoors, sports, politics, and playing golf. Tony was an avid hiker and loved the New England Patriots. Tony married his beloved wife, Janis (formerly Parsons), on June 30,1975 and together, they shared 50 wonderful years. They resided with their two wonderful children for 35 years in Barrington, New Hampshire. They were passionate about traveling and visited many national and state parks. After they retired, they moved to Fort Myers, Florida and enjoyed time with their friends and golfing. Friends and family will remember Tony for his kindness, humor, generosity, and work ethic. Tony is survived by his loving spouse, Janis; daughter, Michelle Serra Haddad of Georgetown, TX; son, Michael Serra of Cambridge, MA; Sister Maryann Serra of Cambridge. MA; and sister, Grace Demore of Stow, MA. A Celebration of Life will be held on December 6, details forthcoming. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or other Veteran's focused charities.
