Almost 9 years ago, my wife and I moved into our home which is across the street from the Stop and Show where Ben worked. And for almost 9 years he has been a permanent fixture in our lives. Frequently, we checked out at his register and he always had a smile and friendly word. I have watched with amazement when unhappy, disgruntled customers were trying to confront him and his mild manners and ability to empathize with them won them over. He was the type of person who knew us -- and most of his regular customers by name and always made our children giggle and smile.
The checkout lanes at Stop and Shop will be a very empty place now that Ben has passed on.
Ben, may you rest in peace. You deserve it! Your family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Auntie and Family,

I am very sorry and very sad to hear about Benny. All I can think of are the family times - dinners, cookouts, pastries and coffee. How special those time were and how Benny will be deeply missed. My thoughts and prayers are with the family in this time of grief. I apologize for not being able to make the trip.

Words cannot express how sad I am to lose my friend/co-worker Ben. I worked with Ben for many years at Stop & Shop (mostly 3 nights a week). From his "raising the roof" and co-workers teaching him new dance moves...Ben was the best. He will be deeply missed and ALWAYS REMEMBERED in my HEART!!! I miss you Ben and you will never be forgotten.
