BETSY DAVIS Obituary

DAVIS, Betsy Betsy A. Davis, 67, of Pepperell, MA, formerly of Lowell, MA, Westborough, MA, and Medfield, MA, lost her long, determined battle with pancreatic cancer on August 8, 2018. She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, her very best friend Ned Ellsworth of Pepperell, MA; her sister Nancy Davis Mills and husband Earl Mills of Alexandria, NH; her sister Linda Davis Amsden of Southampton, MA, and brother-in-law Howard Amsden of New Hampton, NH; and her brother Jeffrey Davis and wife Bonnie Kudlicki of Richardson, TX. Also by her niece Mariah Amsden and husband Marc Robert, and their son Avery Robert of W. Boylston, MA; and her nephew Seth Amsden and wife Soula Pefkaros of Harrisonburg, VA. She is predeceased by her parents Elisabeth 'Betty' S. Davis and W. Wallace 'Wally' Davis. Betsy lived to the fullest. With her many years in high tech, Betsy became a greatly respected and talented software engineer and passionate mentor to many junior engineers. Prior to her career in technology, she earned several college degrees and pursued her many diverse interests, from religious studies, to art and sewing, to the ability to drive a manual shift effortlessly through Boston traffic. She and her beloved husband shared many adventures as they traveled, and she delighted in describing those adventures to friends and family. Betsy will be remembered as a brilliance akin to no other. She was, after all, THE only female concrete truck dispatcher in Colorado! AND she was featured on a Disney World stage, she flew from a hang glider in south central Mexico, and she traveled the Far East and to Hawai'i Judgment free, without a single condescending tone, legitimately hoping only the best for others, tenacious, ever logical, detail perfect, surprisingly humble and off-handedly funny, she always brought more than met the eye. Betsy was never run-of-the-mill. As per Betsy's wishes, no services are planned. She and her family ask that you honor Betsy by making a donation to pancreatic cancer research. Ned, Thank you for finding us. We are absolutely crushed by this news. Betsy was one of the most vibrant, alive, curious and loving people we've known. You don't know how many people we've told about the night that we introduced you two and how happy we were when you married. The two of you hold a special place in our hearts and she will be greatly missed.

Dear Ned, Nancy, Linda, Jeff and Families:
I am so sorry for your tremendous and untimely loss. Betsy and I were neightbors for five years until third grade. We were so proud to both wear size two shoes when we were in second grade. I was so jealous when she told me that antidisestablishmentarianism was a word and she knew how to spell it!!! She was such a brilliant girl and so much fun. We remained close until she moved away before high school but we reconnected in Denver when she was at the University of Denver and afterwards. She came to my wedding and gave me a gorgeous purple wooden mirror which she had made incorporating into it dried flowers. She was my first friend from back east to hold my newborn son in 1974. We lost touch again until the Medfield High School Class of 1969's 40th reunion when I had the chance to sit with her and have a most enjoyable opportunity to get caught up with eachothers' lives. I am so sorry she had to fight such a horrible disease and that she has been taken away so prematurely. I select to believe that she is in heaven now, happily reuniting with your lovely parents. Meanwhile, my heart goes out to all of you. My husband, Bill MacGregor who is a few years older than I but who grew up in our neighborhood in Medfield and thus knew your family of course, sends his heartfelt condolences as well. God be with you all at this terrible time. Warmly, Liz Larkin Mantelli

Betsy I have gotten to know you through Ned. I know he misses you very much. And because he does, even though we never met, so do I. Rest in peace.
