CATHERINE LICATA Obituary

LICATA, Catherine Packard Age 72, died on February 17 in Plymouth, MA after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. Cathy was born and raised in Arlington, VA, graduated from Jeb Stuart High School in 1967, UNC Chapel Hill in 1971 with a degree in nursing and earned a master's degree in nursing at the University of Washington, Seattle in 1977. For over 40 years she was a dedicated neurology/neuro-surgery nurse at both Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston and Christus St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe, NM. Having lived and worked in D.C., Denver, CO, Brattleboro, VT, Seattle, WA, Melrose, MA, Dedham, MA, Brookline, MA and Santa Fe, NM, she retired with husband Bill to Plymouth, MA in 2019. Cathy loved to travel, both foreign and domestic; to hike, including many national and state parks; to run, trained and successfully completed the Boston Marathon; ski, bike and read. She was a beloved wife and wonderful mother who never failed to make sure those in her life always felt the true depth of her love for them. Widely recognized for her genuine and caring personality, she was simply a very nice person. Cathy is survived by her husband, Bill; son, Scott and daughter-in-law Alicia of Concord, MA; brothers-in-law Frank (Emily) and Tom (Joanne), all of Revere, and Bron Thomas (Gail) of Norton, OH; nieces Andrea Bettencourt of Peabody, MA and Paige Licata of Revere, MA; and nephews Greg Licata of Topsfield, MA, Ryan Licata of Revere, MA, Bron Thomas of Uniontown, OH and Joe Thomas of No. Canton, OH. She was predeceased by her parents, Ardelle and Joseph Packard of Mason City, IA; and sister, Ann of Norton, OH. A Celebration of her Life will be held in Plymouth later in the year.
