CHARLES R. AYER

AYER, Charles R. Age 94, of Canton, MA, passed away peacefully, on October 11, 2025, surrounded by his family. Charlie was a loving father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary (Joyce), to whom he was married to for 46 years. Charlie is survived by his daughter, Susan Grafton and her husband, Glen, of Bridgewater; his much loved grandchildren, Jack, Matthew, and Abby Grafton; his son, Robert "Bob" Ayer and his wife, Darcie, of Canton; loyal friend and grand-dog, Smith; and grand-cat, Wesson. He also leaves behind sister-in-law, Geraldine Hurley and her husband, Mike; niece and nephews, Christine Clinton-Sinai and her husband, Nick, Stephen Clinton, and John McDonald and his wife, Christine; and several extended family members. A proud U.S. Navy veteran, who served during the Korean War, Charlie was a lifelong member of the American Legion Post 24 in Canton. Having served the post in various roles over the years, he leaves behind many cherished friends and fellow veterans from the Legion. Visiting Hours will be held at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington St., CANTON, on Wednesday, October 15, from 4-7 pm. His Funeral Mass will be held at St. Oscar Romero Church, Canton, on Thursday, October 16, at 10:00 am, followed by his Burial at St. Mary's Cemetery, in Canton. As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that donations may be made to the American Legion Post 24, 950 Washington Street, Canton, MA, in memory of our beloved Charlie who found great camaraderie and purpose there.
