Clare M. Sullivan

Age 91, died on August 26, 2004 at Kenoza Manor Convalescent Home in Haverhill, Massachusetts. She was born on March 2, 1913 in Methuen, MA and lived in Andover, MA in the early and later part of her life. She was the widow of the late Daniel F. Sullivan and is survived by six children: Paul M. Sullivan of Honolulu, Hawaii; Mark L. Sullivan and his wife, Mary of Scituate, MA, Kevin J. Sullivan and his wife, Cynthia (Abbot) of North Andover; Philip F. Sullivan and his wife, Denise, of Andover, MA, Mary A. Sullivan of San Francisco, CA, and Brian J. Sullivan and his wife, Margaret of Cape Coral, FL. She had one grandchild, Brianna Sullivan of Cape Coral, FL. Mrs. Sullivan graduated in 1932 from Abbot Academy (now Philips Academy) and attended Wellesley College for two years. She then transferred to Stanford University from where she graduated in 1936. She worked as a real estate broker both on Cape Cod and in the Merrimack Valley and as an executive secretary at Merrimack College and Phillips Academy. She was an avid reader, a seeker of knowledge and world traveler. She was a member of the Great Books Club of Andover and Elder Hostel of the Merrimack Valley. Since 1960, she was the co-owner of the Caronel Court Apartments in Andover, MA which was the first apartment house built in Andover by her father, John F. O'Connell, in 1923. Funeral arrangements for Clare M. (O'Connell) Sullivan are: Funeral Mass on Thurs., Sept. 2, at 10:30 at St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex St., Andover, MA. Visitation: Calling hours will be held on Wed. from 5-8 PM at Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 N. Main St., ANDOVER, MA. Cremation will take place at Linwood Crematory.
