Clinton Walker Obituary

89, of Tucson passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on December 29, 2006. He was born December 3, 1917 to Austin and Effie Walker in Fall River, Massachusetts. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Janet and their children Marion (husband John), Kris (husband Michael), Soame (husband James), Hillary (partner Kay), 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Clint was preceded in death by his first wife Eleanor in 1962, son Scott in 1947 and daughter Virginia in 1956. Clint was a beloved husband, father and grandpa. He graduated from Durfee High School in Fall River, Massachusetts in 1935. He entered the Army Air Force training as a bombardier navigator during the 2nd World War attaining the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. Clint worked for Ethan Allen Furniture Company for 50 years in New York City and Danbury, Connecticut. He ended his career as President, Vice Chairman of the Board and Corporate Director. He was also Director of the National Association of Furniture Manufacturers from 1968 to 1981. He proudly received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Amhurst College in 1978. A consummate New Englander, Clint was known for his loyalty, integrity and work ethic. He was an avid sailor and skier who also grew to love the southwest. Clint and his beloved wife Janet lived in Westport and Weston, Connecticut and moved to Tucson, AZ in 2005 to be close to their daughters. Many heartfelt thanks to Catalina In-Home Services, Heartland Hospice and Bayada Nurses for their guidance, support and loving care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christ and Holy Trinity Church, 55 Myrtle Ave., Westport, Connecticut 06880 or St. Philips in the Hills Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 65840, Tucson, AZ 85718. A memorial service and celebration will be held on Friday January 5, 2007 at 2:00 PM at St. Philips in the Hills Episcopal Church, 4440 N. Campbell Ave., Tucson, AZ.

Clint was an "old family friend" of my parents, Marshall and Velma Ames, of Canaan, VT, and had been our neighbor in the 40's in Beecher Falls, VT. His daughter "Dutch" was my "playmate". Our sympathies to Clint's family.
