DANIEL WEBSTER WILBUR IV

1942 - 2015

Wilbur, Daniel Webster, IV 72, of Punta Gorda, FL, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at Tidewell Hospice, Port Charlotte, FL. He was born Aug. 23, 1942, in Rhinebeck, NY, the first child of Dr. Daniel Wilbur and Mary (nee Flanigan) Wilbur. Daniel attended Mercersburg Academy and Pratt Institute before joining the U.S. Air Force. For over 30 years he was General Manager of Cater Air In-Flight Services at several major airports. Since moving to Florida in 2002, he was a dedicated coach and volunteer for the Charlotte County Special Olympics who recently awarded him a plaque for his many years of valuable service. He will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends. Survivors include his loving wife of 25 years, Patricia "Pat" J. Allen Wilbur of Punta Gorda; his daughter, Sharon Prater of Port Charlotte; his grandson, Dade Austin of Punta Gorda; a granddaughter, Katlin Prater of Port Charlotte; a step-daughter, Tara Kelley of Beverly, Mass.; a step-son, Todd Breau of Los Angeles, CA; brothers, William Wilbur of Los Angeles; Robert Wilbur of Matthews, NC; Peter Wilbur of Huntington, NY; sisters, Mary Jane Lackey of Granbury, Texas; Sarah Sprayregen of Burlington, VT; and Kathryn Wilbur of Alva, FL. A memorial service will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Punta Gorda. Date to be announced.
