I was always struck by David's kindness when I encountered him at TI. I did not know him well, but he was always a v ery cordial & welcoing presence. It is only after his death that here on this site that Iearned of his iimpressive professional accomplishments. May his memory be a blessing!
I do have a question: was the family related to irving Berlin, who had the same family name?

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I worked for
Dr. Bailen for almost 10 years in Boston many years ago and always enjoyed working for him. He was an incredible physician, teacher, and friend. He had a fun loving side that I will always remember that made the work days go by much faster than they normally would have. Yet when it came to his patients he always went above and beyond to assure them in such a kind professional manner that they would always leave the office with a smile. Dr. B. helped many family members of mine and will always remember his kindness. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dr. Bailen was a well-respected clinician, teacher, husband, dad and grandfather. A humble, welcoming and dedicated leader, he was our good friend at the School of Medicine.
