DAVID F. HAYWARD

HAYWARD, David F. Longtime resident of Linden Ponds in Hingham, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 25, 2021. David was born and raised in Dorchester, Massachusetts and attended Boston English High School, St. Joseph College, New Jersey, Suffolk University, and University of Massachusetts, Boston. Following his education, David enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country honorably during the Korean War. Following his years in the Navy he settled in Milton, Massachusetts and began a career working for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Environmental Protection, as an engineer, concentrating in the protection of our wetlands. In the late 1970s, David designed and built a classic home facing due west so that he and his beloved mother, Helen Casey Hayward, and sister, Kate, could enjoy the gorgeous sunset views over Hamblin Pond in Marstons Mills, Cape Cod. Being very devoted to family, they were later joined by their sister, Molly Hayward Herlihy, and their home became the center of family fun and frivolity. David, along with his sisters, served as a devoted parishioner and volunteered in numerous capacities in the parish life of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Osterville, Massachusetts. David and Kate loved to travel the world and enjoyed making many wonderful friends during their exotic excursions and cruises. They also maintained a home in Vero Beach, Florida for many years. David's devotion to relationships, both within the family and far beyond, resulted in him being known as "Uncle David" to all who knew and loved him. David is predeceased by his parents, Helen and Henry Hayward, his siblings, Henry, Bill, Molly, Kate and Paul, and is survived by numerous beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, along with many devoted friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Hills Church, 29 St. Mary's Rd., Milton, Massachusetts, on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at 11:30 am, preceded by Visitation at the Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Ave., EAST MILTON, Massachusetts, at 10:00 am.
