Deborah and I shared many wonderful memories in life. From waitressing together for 20+ years at Tom Shea's, the birth of Nicholas, our morning walks in the a.m. around her beloved Essex, raisin toast and coffee at the Village Bakery, blueberry picking, cookouts, gingerbread house competitions, sitting in beach chairs late after work in Woodman's parking lot looking at the sky, church fairs and flea markets, beaching and boating, and shopping. The most treasured gift I received was our friendship. I have no words for how grateful I am for having had Deb in my life. She will forever be in my heart. Truly, she was a special gift to me. ~Cyndi Allen

I am posting this for an incarcerated penpal of mine who started to write Deborah. His name is Dan Elwell.
Sometimes in life we come across someone who touches our life and leaves an impression. I've only known you for a year or two, but in that short time, you left a lasting impression that warmed my heart. I felt blessed to call you my friend. and I can only hope that my friendship touched your heart in some way, that lifted your spirit and allowed you to know someone cared. You'll always be missed by the many friends you have who truly cared. I am one of many.

Dear Miller Family, We are so sorry that you have lost someone so special to you. We pray that your memories of Debbie will carry you through this difficult time, and give you joy as you think of her. We are so thankful John that you were able to be there for Debbie and with the family at this time. It is amazing how God works things out for us. I know that you made a difference as you stood with Debbie during this time. She is at peace now and she will be greatly missed. You know the hope that she had and will see her again someday. God Bless You,

Deborah was my high school friend. We met in 9th grade, and always enjoyed being in the same homeroom all 4 yrs of high school. It was my great privilege and honor to have Deb as a friend for all these years. We started our friendship well and with plenty of fun, lost some years in the middle and due to her illness, but in the end, we finished well. As I told Deb while visiting her one day in hospice, it is not how one starts, but how one finishes life that counts. And I know she finished well because she finished with the Lord. She told me as she pulled out a bible, that she wished she had done that a long time ago. I have wonderful memories of those precious moments during my visits to hospice, especially when she would motion me to come and sit in that chair beside her bed...some of the time wanting to talk about spiritual or God things. My most favorite moment is when, while she was in the tub, she gave me a small gift she had for me for a couple years, and was never able to give it to me until then....how special was that. Deborah, you will always be in my heart, as you always have been. The good news is I'll see ya again one day...where there is no more sickness, pain, etc. We will walk on streets of gold together. You finished well! I will miss you, though, down here. I am so thankful for your wonderful family who surrounded you with love and kindness. It was good to see all of them again, too. As we both know, your name means "bee"..and as you told me, you are a gatherer...what bees do...and in a sense...that is what you did in the end...gathered everyone together. Love to you, and your family.

The word that always comes to mind when I think of Debbie is: "delightful"! As a teacher, I saw many students over the years, and Debbie was always one of my favorites. She was a joy and always brought sunshine to the room. Now, as she embarks on a trail we will all trod someday, she will be delighting everyone she meets. Though we here on earth say "There she goes," those on the other side are saying "Here she comes." The world is a better place because Debbie was in it. My condolences to everyone in Debbie's family.

Debby, you were my favorite "Miller" in my English classes. (Sorry, John!) I can still see your bright smile and always joyful personality. My fellow teachers and I have spoken this past week about what a joy you were in class and why couldn't all students be like you. I know you are safe now; I know you are with God. God loves goodness, and I knew from your first day in class that you embodied goodness.

My Dearest Sister Deborah, it has been my privilege to have had you in my life these past 53+ years. Truly blessed to have you as my sister and my friend. You will always be in my heart, in my thoughts and close by. I am glad you are at peace finally and not suffering but am so, so very sad that you are not physically here for us to be with. I will love you forever and will miss you always. Give mom and dad and nana and nana a huge kiss for me. I hope you have found your peace.... love you always, your sister Sandra

My God, what an outstanding human being you were Deborah! Your strength, compassion, thoughtfulness, valor and dignity will be forever remembered by all that you touched. Deborah you were truly a force to be reckoned with. During your final days, you exemplified grace in its most perfect form. More importantly the gift of knowing you is more precious than the finest of any of man’s material possessions, even the ones that you so diligently searched for at the flea market! Thank you for your wisdom and your friendship. Your family, children, friends and Hannah are all so proud of you and will always be in awe of you and all that you were. My God hold you in the palm of his hand.
I love you my friend,
~Darcy

I'm so sorry to hear of Deb's passing. I knew her through my cousin, Cyndi. When my Mom was sick, Deb came to visit her and rubbed her back and positioned her pillows. She was wonderful and caring. My Mom always loved to pull Deb's ponytail back in the day.
May memories and love give you strength during this difficult time.
