DIANA CHACE HOYT

HOYT, Diana Chace Beloved Educator and Devoted Mother 1942 - 2025 A devoted mother, grandmother, educator and friend, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025, in Peabody, MA. Born in New York City in 1942, Diana was raised by Arthur Freeborn Chace and Betsey Luscombe Chace. Diana lived a life grounded in creativity, compassion and deep devotion to family, nature and community. She made her longtime home in Ipswich, MA, where she cultivated warmth, hospitality and joyful gatherings around a table always filled with lovingly prepared meals. Educated at Beaver Country Day School, Concord Academy and Bennington College, Diana went on to dedicate decades to teaching Theater Arts at the Shore Country Day School in Beverly, MA. Her imagination, warmth and passion inspired generations of students and left a lasting impact on the North Shore arts community. Her legacy lives on in the voices, performances and joy of those she taught. Outside the classroom, Diana was an active member of the Annisquam Village Church and Chorus North Shore. She found joy in music and peace and purpose in her garden. A lifelong nature lover, she treasured quiet walks along Crane's Beach, cherished summers at the Ausable Lakes in New York's Adirondack Mountains and winters at her family's Bromley Mountain cabin in Vermont. She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Andrew and his wife, Cecilia and Eliot and his wife, Allyson; and her adored grandchildren, Asher and Clare. She also leaves behind siblings, James (Tack), Daphne, Patricia, Kathleen and Cynthia, and their families. She was predeceased by siblings, Mike and Susan. Diana's life was marked by grace, creativity and enduring love. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
