Mr. D was my teacher, dean, and later mentor when I worked as a teacher at BMHS. Always "firm but fair" he was liked and respected by all. His best friend was Mr. Sarno and both will always be remembered by former students.

My condolences to the family. He was a wonderful person and one of the best vice principals I have ever had. He was funny, kind and understanding but he did not allow his students to be disrespectful. He made a huge impact on my life.

Mr. D worked with my father Joseph Sarno in the Billerica MA school system for many years. He was a close friend of the family and loved by the kids and faculty alike. He had a great sense of humor and was a kind and yes gentle man. I remember when he was a house master he would walk the halls and if anyone was in the hallways after the bell rang he would give them 1 hour detention. This one time I was all the way at the other end of the hall, the bell rang, he looked at me, I looked at the stairwell and booked it down. He ran the entire length of the hallway and as I was reaching the bottom I could hear him yell down. “Cindy Sarno you have 1 hour.” Haha. He was a great guy. We loved him very much. ❤
