Dolores Richardson Obituary

HARDWICK - Dolores Richardson, 95, of Hardwick, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, Sept. 5, 2011, at the Manor Nursing Home, Morrisville, surrounded by her loving family.

Dolores was born Aug. 26, 1916, in St. Malo, Quebec, to parents Servand and Hosanna (Bessette) LeBlanc. She came to the United States as an infant. She was born third in a family of 18 children. She attended schools in Elmore, the Starr School, a one-room schoolhouse in Stannard, and the Center Road School in Hardwick.

She married Henry D. Richardson, of Greensboro, at St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Hardwick, on Thanksgiving, Nov. 28, 1935. They resided briefly in East Craftsbury, then owned a farm in Greensboro for 26 years, where they raised three children.

They moved to West Church Street, Hardwick, in June 1968. She lived with daughter Henriette and husband Vivien Garven from 2008 to 2010. The Manor became her home in 2010, where she participated in bingo and a variety of crafts. Most of all, she enjoyed the musical talent and church services.

She was a devoted member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and Altar Society in earlier years, and then St. Norbert's Catholic Church. Her claim to fame was the awesome meatloaf she made for the St. Michael's annual bazaar. She enjoyed serving at the sugar-on-snow parties as well. Dolores was a stay-at-home mom and lovingly cared for her family. She delighted in spending time with family and friends, was an avid bird-watcher and enjoyed card parties, quilt making and crocheting. She was also accomplished at embroidery.

Dolores was married to her husband, Henry, for 59 years. He predeceased her on May 29, 1995. She leaves behind three children: Maurice and his wife, Gailene (Brock) Richardson, of East Hardwick; Henriette Garven and her husband, Vivien, of East Hardwick; and Yvette Dunbar and her husband, Jerry, of Barre. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Maurice Jr., Michael and Marc Richardson, Tammy (Richardson) Molleur, Conrad and Patrick Garven, Lisa Dunbar and Julie (Dunbar) Curtis, as well as 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She also leaves behind brothers and sisters Joseph LeBlanc, Marie Bilodeau, Vincent LeBlanc, Lumina Brown, Rose Carlson, Louise Nye and Georgette Gianuzzi.

We are saddened by the loss of our beloved gradma D. What a grand welcome she must be receiving from Henry and her loved ones in heaven! D was such an enthusiatic and positive lady. With her optimistic attitude and a sparkle in those blue eyes, she always looked for the best in people and the bright side of any situation. During our years as neighbors on West Church Street, we considered "Uncle Henry" and "Grandma D" part of our family. They were such fun to be with - whether we were playing cards, making music or bird watching. She will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and many friends.
