Dorothy Joyner Obituary

JOYNER, Dorothy Steele Beloved wife of Frank Joyner passed away after a long battle with pancreatic cancer on Nov. 29, 2008. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her older son Frank, his wife Julie and their children Ann, Tim and Sam, her younger son Don and his wife Heather and their children Lauren and Garrett, her brother Frank Steele and several nieces and nephews. Dot received a BA in Chemistry from Randolph Macon Women's College in 1956, marrying Frank soon after graduation. She taught science at the secondary school level. She served both as a volunteer and as the first paid head of the library at the McCarthy-Towne School in Acton from 1971 to 1983. On her retirement from that position, the newly built library wing was named in her honor. Visiting hours Sat. 2-5pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Mass Ave (Rte 111) ACTON, with memorial words at the conclusion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Cancer Center at Mass General Hospital, Dir. of Development, Cancer Ctr.
