EDMUND CONNOR Obituary

CONNOR, Edmund J. "Bud" Edmund "Bud" J. Connor, Jr., age 87, of North Easton, formerly of Brockton and Cambridge. Predeceased by his parents Edmund and Evelyn Connor and his sister Claire Rodley. He died at home after a recent diagnosis of leukemia. He leaves his beloved wife of 64 years Ann (Dahl) Connor, his daughter Kathy of Weston and three sons - Ed and his wife Joanna, Kevin and his wife Maria of Newburyport and Michael and his wife Tami of Bellingham. He is also survived by his brother Rick Connor and partner Linda and his sister Eileen Courtney and husband Ed. He was loved by 10 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Ed grew up in Inman Square, Cambridge and graduated from Rindge Technical School. He went on to serve in the United States Air Force as a radio operator from 1953-1956, stationed abroad in Japan. He worked as a quality control engineer at Draper Lab in Cambridge for almost 40 years, while completing his Bachelor's degree at Northeastern University. An avid sports fan, he amassed a collection of baseball autographs, personally obtained, from 1948-1950. He loved baseball, the Boston Celtics (especially Bob Cousy) and the Boston Marathon. He was a longtime runner, training daily around the Charles River with a group of friends and colleagues named The River Rats. He competed in many marathons, road races and track events. After his retirement, he was able to follow his passion for running by coaching and mentoring many young people. He served as a coach at Xaverian Brothers High School, Stonehill College and Oliver Ames High School. In his later years, Ed and wife Ann were daily visitors to the Easton YMCA, where he also coached and encouraged many runners. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Old Colony Hospice and Palliative Care of West Bridgewater or to the Old Colony YMCA in Easton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral on Friday, June 24, 2022 from Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington Street (Rte. 138), EASTON at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, Easton at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Easton. Ed will always have a special place in our hearts. Meeting Ed and Ann through the Oliver Ames and Easton running communities enriched our lives and the lives of our kids, Adam and Dana. We will remember Ed with love, and we send our sincere condolences to Ann and the entire family.
