1946 - 2025

O'NEILL, Edward T. Jr. Passed away peacefully, at Newport Hospital, on March 31, 2025. Born on February 22, 1946, to Edward and Rita O'Neill, Ed grew up in Milton, MA and attended Boston College High School and the University of Notre Dame. In 1969, Ed married his high school sweetheart, Patricia (Sweeney). Shortly after the wedding, he was deployed to South Korea with the Army, later serving in Heidelberg, Germany. He then began a career in public service, as the Town Manager of Walpole, MA and later Cheshire, CT. In 2016, Ed and Pat retired to Middletown, RI, where he focused on his grandchildren, cheering them on in all endeavors. He relished simple joys-reading the newspaper cover to cover, debating sports and current events and sharing music and laughter. If life's success were measured in laughter, his cup was overflowing. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Patricia; children, Meaghan O'Neill (Kurt Edenbach) of Newport, Sarah Fernandez (Drew) of Middletown and Colin O'Neill of New Orleans; grandchildren, Edward "Teddy", Carolina, Nicholas and Oona; sister, Nancy O'Neill; cousins, Maura Overlan, Frank O'Neill (Juanita) and Jim O'Neill (Sandy). He was predeceased by a sister, Patricia A. O'Neill. A private Mass and Burial will be held.
