EDWARD SMALDONE Obituary

SMALDONE, Edward "Eddie the Mechanic" Of Orient Heights, East Boston, passed away at home August 4th surrounded by his loving family in his 92nd year. Born 1921 in Castelcivita (Salerno) Italy, the son of the late Nunziante and Giovanna (Vicinanza) Smaldone. Beloved husband of the late Sara M. (Bamonte) Smaldone with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. Loving father of Jo-Ann Russo and her husband Richard and Elisa LaPlante and her husband Edward all of Revere. Cherished grandfather of Richard E. Russo. Eddie was one of nine siblings and has a surviving sister Elisa Gaudieri of Eboli (Salerno) Italy. Eddie was a retired Auto mechanic for the Boston Police Department Station Area D. He was an Italian War Veteran WW II and spent two years in a German concentration camp. Eddie was also a member of the Orient Heights Civic Club. Funeral from Vazzas "Beechwood" Funeral Home, 262 Beach Street, REVERE, Friday morning at 8:30 AM. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St Joseph-St Lazarus Church at 10 PM. Family and friends may visit Thursday 4 to 8PM. Entombment in the Mausoleum at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Jo-Ann, Richie, Elisa, Eddie and Richard I am so sorry for your loss. I wish I was there but I send you all my love. Dad suffered a long time and he's now at peace.
