Edward Tuckerman Obituary

TUCKERMAN, Edward ("Ned") Morrill Age 90, passed away peacefully December 17, 2009. Born in Cohasset, MA to Elsie Lenox Morrill of New York and J. Willard Tuckerman of Massachusetts. Graduated Brooks Academy and Harvard class of 1943; Served as 1st Lieutenant US Navy, USS McCook World War II. Awarded many patents during his 38 years service with Gillette. A Cohasset Golf Club course record holder and avid golfer. Survived by his wife of 61 years, Grace Russell, his three children; Melissa Tuckerman and Russell Tuckerman, both of Montana, Robin Denninger of Texas, four grandchildren, his sister Jean Tuckerman Swaim, and two nephews. A Graveside Service will be held at a future date. If desired, donations may be made to VFW Post 9146, 88 Summer St., Cohasset, MA 02025 or Norwell VNA Hospice, 91 Longwater Cir., Norwell, MA 02061. Mr. Tuckerman,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the USN during WW II as a "Tin Can Sailor" aboard the destroyer USS McCook(DD 496) which saw action supporting the D-Day landings at Normandy and southern France in 1944. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

I was so sorry to hear of Ned's passing. I worked with Ned for several years. As a young scientist, I learned so much from him in those early dys. He was a talented technical person with great integrity. Please accept my sympathy
