FRANK J. CALABRO

CALABRO, Frank J. Quincy Police Department, Retired, age 76, a lifelong Quincy resident, died peacefully, Monday, October 30, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Frank was a Quincy Police officer for thirty-six years. He was appointed to the Quincy Police Department on November 21, 1968 and during his career worked as a patrolman, a detective in the drug unit, and later with the organized crime unit. He also worked in community policing prior to his retirement on February 26, 2004. He loved his job and helping people. He served in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne Division from 1960 to 1962. Beloved husband for forty-nine years of Carol A. (D'Olimpio) Calabro. Devoted father of Tina M. Calabro and her husband David Cheney, Frank J. Calabro, Jr. and his wife Dana, all of Quincy. Loving grandfather of Anthony and Matthew McFarlane, Elizabeth, Benjamin, Nicholas and John Cheney, Giavanna and Franco Calabro. Dear brother of the late Joseph Calabro and his wife Barbara of Weymouth, Michael Calabro, Jr. and his wife Dolores of Abington, Steven Calabro and his wife Sheila of Quincy, Joseph Calabro of Weymouth, and Elizabeth Calabro of Randolph. Frank is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, QUINCY on Saturday, November 4th at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours at the funeral home on Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. Interment with Military Honors at Pine Hill Cemetery, West Quincy.
