73, of Wareham, born June 17, 1935, loving son of the late Phillip and Mary (Sullivan) Brady of Brockton, peacefully passed away, on July 19, 2008 surrounded by his loving family at the Brigham Women's Hospital, Boston. Loving husband of Patricia (Lopez) Brady and loving stepdad of Candace Murphy and Bill Clancy of Buzzards Bay, Sarah Dunn and Louis Butler, II of East Bridgewater. George graduated 1953, Brockton High. A former marine, he served proudly 1953-56 in Korea. After the military, he graduated from Burdett College with a Business Degree. He was a Real Estate, Insurance Broker, and Notary for over 40 years, & president of Tosca Brady Insurance Agency located in Brockton. He was an avid sports enthusiast. For a number of years he awarded the Brockton High Football team defense player of the week. He generously supported the YMCA children's summer camp, the Girls and Boys Club and many other local organizations. He was member of the Brockton "Y", the 100 Club, American Legion, Past President of the Noontime Lions, Brockton, Independent Insurance Agents, Brockton, Campello Businessmen's Association, Brockton. He was member/past treasurer of the Bertocci Memorial Club, Brockton, and a member of the Wareham Lodge of Elks. A humanitarian with a generous spirit. A smile and handshake for all. He will be sorely missed. George was the loving grandfather of Ashley Sullivan of Abington and loving step-granddad of Sgt. Chad Foster, stationed in Iraq, Heather Foster of HI, Patrick Murphy of Buzzards Bay, Michaela and Brandan Dunn of East Bridgewater. A special remembrance, Jason Clancy, of Carver, Loving Great-granddad of Donovin and Kira Foster of HI; Father in-law of Robert Sullivan of Abington. George leaves a daughter Jennifer of Abington. His four sisters and four brothers in-law, and a sister in law; Joan Brady of Whitman, Gertrude Guiney of Pittsburgh, PA, Hellen & Joseph Picoraro of Hinsdale NH, Anne & Victor Savignano of Hanson, Richard D'Auteuil Sr. of Brockton, James & Diane Lopez, East Bridgewater & a dear cousin Claire Davock of West Bridgewater. Also many nieces & nephews whom he loved dearly. Predeceased by a brother and four sisters, Mary McQueeney, Rose Brady, Alice Brady, Phyllis D'Auteuil, and William Brady, beloved nephews Edwin Piver, Dr. William Guiney and John McQueeney. His funeral will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, July 25, 2008 from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., (Rte. 28), WAREHAM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Margaret's Church, Main St., Buzzards Bay. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours are from 3 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
