George Pfeil Obituary

Formerly of Melrose, MA and a resident of Albuquerque, NM for the past 14 years, died on Wednesday, July 16, 2003 following a long illness, which he fought with dignity and courage. Born in Boston, MA on November 20, 1939, he is survived by Ellen, his devoted wife of 40 years; and their two loving children a daughter, Rhonda Jean of Nashua, NH and a son, George III of Atlanta, GA, as well as a brother, William and his wife, Kathy of Murfreesboro, TN. He is also survived by two nieces and their spouses; three great-nephews; and one great-niece, all of IL. Mr. Pfeil was preceeded in death by his parents, George and Marian Pfeil; and a brother, John, formerly of Malden, MA. George was a motorcycle enthusiast and accomplished many long-distance U.S. tours with Ellen which included the entire lower 48 states. Additionally, he was a life member of the NRA and an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying all aspects of the outdoors. George enjoyed reading about U.S. History and the Civil War. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps and was then employed by AT&T for 30 years prior to his retirement to New Mexico and then later was employed by CTS (formerly Motorola). George's children will miss his love, encouragement and sense of humor. A Funeral Mass was celebrated July 19, 2003 at Prince of Peace Catholic Community in Albuquerque. Following the Mass, a reception Celebrating George's Life was held at the family home, 2402 Tramway Terrace Court, NE. A private burial will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Amy Tarnower, MD and Lovelace Hospice for the gentle and loving care provided. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in memory of George A. Pfeil Jr. to Lovelace Hospice, 5403 Gibson Blvd. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108. Arrangements by French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd., NE, ALBUQUERQUE, NM.
