It was surely a time of innocence, a time when we thought we knew everything but knew nothing. No thought of profit or loss, nor distant memories or even the faintest murmur of heaven or hell. The best time. The very best time.

Yes, my old friend, we were seven or eight years old, sitting on those cement stairs, oblivious to our futures. Maybe, two or three years later, on those same stairs, we played Monopoly. I think you almost always won! But the most everlasting memory were those races around the big block, down Nahant Avenue, up and around to Shirley Avenue and back to thsoe stairs. I was so thin, so fast, so young but, again, you always won the race. There were no cares, only laughter and stories and, when we were lucky, visits from "Sonny" and his ice cream truck. And if we were VERY lucky, pieces of the free Popsicles tha had broken on that bottom of all those creamsicles and fudgicles and ice cream sandwiches. Yes, frozen Popsicles, often given to us on very hot days, tossed to us by Sonny from the back of his truck,,,while those ice cream chimes chimed away. Those were the happiest days, never to be really relived in these times of digital screens and "organized" sports. Street kids we were, living the hopes and dreams of the moment.

Beverly, Diane and I were shocked and saddened upon hearing of our long-time friends passing. Although we haven't seen each other in a number of years, every now and then I would get a message from a mutual friend, that Jerry sent his regards and I would do the same. Words cannot express the sorrow we feel.......Our years together on Nahant Ave. are to be cherished.

Dear Nicole, Nina, Gail and family
Is there a heaven; I know that God will welcome him with open arms. Jerry Brenner was on of the best liked people on this earth. I met him at Mrs. Murphy's Kindergarten class of 1944. He was the worlds best family man. He was a great Dad. I have known him for 70 years. He will be missed.
I'M so happy that I had time to spend with Jerry, when he visited me in Santa Monica, several months ago, we had great time, I will cherish those few days for the rest of my life
Love to all his family,

To the Brenner family, please accept my condolences on Jerry's passing. I remember Jerry from our RHS & Ave. days. He was a fun guy. I'll always remember the summer, in the late 50's, when he & I plus a number of others from Revere worked for the state highway department -- we had a fun time.
Rest in peace.
