Gerald Fine Obituary

FINE, Gerald S. Of Marblehead, age 78, died on November 15, 2011. Mr. Fine, "Jerry" to all who knew him, was born and raised in Roslindale and had lived in Marblehead and Lynn for over 50 years. He was a Korean War era veteran, having served in the Air Force. Jerry graduated from Boston University with Bachelors and Masters degrees in Psychology. Mr. Fine was a Guidance Counselor at the Masconomet Regional Middle School serving Boxford, Topsfield and Middleton, MA, for almost twenty years (1961-1980). After retiring as a school counselor, he became actively involved in the North Shore Mental Health Collaborative and provided group and individual psychological services. Jerry also refurbished furniture and operated an antique store out of his house on Front Street. He later became renowned for making jewelry out of antique buttons and selling these out of his home and distributing them worldwide. Beloved father of L.J. Fine of Bass Lake, CA., Drew Fine of Los Angeles, CA, Neal Fine of North Kingstown, R.I., Keith Fine of Quincy, MA and Lesley Fine of South Portland, ME. Beloved brother of Mel Fine of Lauderhill, FL, Henry Fine of Needham and the late Sewall Fine. Loving grandfather to seven grandchildren. Former husband of Lorraine (Young) Fine of South Portland, ME. Memorial service on Saturday, December 10 at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 28 Mugford St. Marblehead at 10 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Mr. Fine was laid to rest in Crawford Street Memorial Park in West Roxbury on November 18.
