To Mr. Whelan´s family:
I had the pleasure of hearing Mr. Whelan speak at a conference in Dallas back in 2017. Thereafter, he reached out on a professional web-based platform, fueled by his passion to learn more about cutting edge immunotherapy. During our conversations, it was obvious that this brilliant gentleman knew as much as me! I was so impressed by his knowledge, and enjoyed his sense of humor.
I just learned that he passed away, and wanted to tell you that I am incredibly sorry for your loss. He was truly a special person. Everyone at that conference was touched by him, as he brought the patient´s perspective into clear view. His words had a butterfly effect.
Warm regards,
Angela Carter

Jack was bigger than life, and took on his disease with so many admirable traits. An unwavering commitment to survive, to understand his illness and to figure what he needed to do to stay ahead of it. He was forging his own personalized medicine trail emboldened by what could be just around the corner to save him. God bless Jack, his spirit and the proud family he's left to carry on his energy.

I just learned of Jack's passing and I am so sorry and saddened. Jack was so nice and helpful to my wife and I when Anne-Marie was diagnosed with a rare disease. I will never forget his kindness.

So very sorry to hear of Jack's passing. My condolences to his family who he spoke of with such love. I met Jack at a few conferences and he came to speak at an internal corporate meeting which resulted in a standing ovation. No surprise as he truly was an inspiration, innovative thinker (I believe he coined the term "Patient Opinion Leader") and all around great guy! Rest in peace, Jack.

I am saddened beyond belief to just learn of Jack's passing. My relationship with Jack and Janet goes back to the time we were in Drum and Bugle Corps together, some possibly 55 years ago. Jack was an inspiration to so many of us. I was glad to have been able to celebrate his life with him and his family and oh-so-many others from all over the country who came to celebrate with him about 2 months ago. My condolences tothe entire family, especially you, Janet.

I only met Jack once at a conference and he was by far the brightest star. My whole team will miss him. I wanted so much for him to beat this thing. He put up a great fight. Probably the bravest person I ever met. He's given me courage as well.

Thank you for your marvelous example. When my mother was diagnosed with Waldenstrom's, it was your example that demonstrated that she still had a life to look forward to! At 89, she's still here! Condolences to your family!

Im so sorry to hear that Jack has passed away. I saw him speak at last years World CDx. He told his story about living with his leukemia. His weekly visits to Dana Farber. I remember thinking how if I were dealing with such an illness that I couldnt be out there like Jack advocating for patients, educating patients, medical personnel and pharma. I was shocked towards the end of his talk that in spite of all the medical care that he was receiving that no one detected his advanced metastatic prostate cancer. He said he would have one good year and one bad year. I hoped his savvy with seeking out cutting edge therapy that he would manage it and still be with us. He was a staunch advocate of clinical trial, research and precision medicine. Jack you will be missed.

I had the privilege of meeting Jack only once but was impressed by his passion for helping and his warmth embracing the newcomers to the WM journey! He was a great example of living in the world outside of oneself. Peace & comfort to the lovely large family, and rest & the joy of Heaven to Jack
