McCONE, James Of Hingham and Edgartown, formerly of Brookline and Walpole, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly in his sleep on December 28, 2023. Devoted husband of 49 years to Margaret "Peggy" McCone of Hingham and Brookline. Cherished and loving father to Alissa McCone Siedlecki of Medway and Kristen McCone Gordon of Medfield. Revered father-in-law to Michael Siedecki and Christopher J. Gordon. James leaves behind his four grandchildren, whom he deeply loved and cherished: Ruby Noelle Siedlecki (10), Luke James Siedlecki (7), Margaret Elizabeth Gordon (9), and James McCone Gordon (6). James McCone was predeceased by his parents, Mary and James McCone of Brookline, MA. He also leaves behind an aunt, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. James honorably served in the United States National Guard from 1968 to 1971. He graduated from Bentley University with a degree in business. He worked at Motorola Solutions, Inc. for 39 years, where he was elected into the Galvin Masters and CEO Circle. Following his retirement in 2015, he established his own business as an independent consultant. His greatest achievement and passion was his family. James McCone leaves a legacy of devotion to family, kindness, and integrity within the hearts of all who loved him. A Funeral Service will be held in the Bell-O'Dea Funeral Home, 376 Washington Street, BROOKLINE, on Thursday morning, January 4th, at 10am. Visiting Hours in the funeral home on Wednesday, January 3rd, from 4-7pm. Interment Walnut Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jim McCone may be made to JDRF Diabetes Foundation (jdrf.org) to support Type 1 Diabetes Research.

I was saddened to learn of Jim's passing today. I still called him from time to time to catch up on Motorola people. He always took the time to engage in lengthy conversations. He will be missed.

Peggy
Cindy and I are so sad to hear of your loss. Jimmy and I started work at Motorola on the same day January 15, 1977. We were workmates and friends for almost 40 years keeping in touch as I moved around the country. I remember when you folks moved to Hingham. I grew up in Hingham and graduated from the high school. Jimmy called me to get the "inside" about living in Hingham. He continued to tell me what a great move you folks made moving to Hingham.
Short story about working with Jimmy.He was working on a project at Boston College that I had been involved in. Jimmy was the absolutely the best at what he did and his customers had a special relationship with him. Of course Jimmy was awarded and successfully negotiated the communications security contract at BC. I asked him the how the negotiations had gone. He told me at the very end of negotiations, the contracting official requested additional discounts. Jim replied, "I have paid to send both my wonderful daughters to Boston College. Never once did I ask for or receive a discount from Boston College." End of discussion. JImmy was a wonderful man and I cannot image the grief you and the family are going through. Rest in peace Jimmy McCone

Peggy, Alissa, Kristen and family. I did stop by the other day to see if you all were there, but missed you. I am still stunned by the news, and can only imagine how you all are doing. The shock and the sadness beyond belief. He and I had just chatted about a breakfast at Stars...I wish i had the right words.....I don't, except to say that he was a very good "pal" to me, reaching out, caring.....and to say he's missed is a real understatement. ...Lots of love to you all...Gerald

I grew up with Jim and I will always remember that he was such a kind compassionate man. I send my condolences to his wife Peggy who was a perfect match for Jimmy. May God enjoy Jimmy's wonderful smile in heaven. R.I.P. my friend!!!
