JAMES OLIVIERI Obituary

OLIVIERI, James J. Jr. Of Watertown, formerly of Belmont, passed into eternal rest on February 23, 2025, at the age of 78. Born in Boston and raised in Somerville and Lincoln, Jim was the beloved middle child of the late James, Sr. and Dorothy Olivieri. He is survived by his siblings, Rosemarie White and Rick Olivieri. A graduate of Lincoln-Sudbury High School and Suffolk University, Jim earned a degree in Business Administration and went on to build a successful career in logistics and food distribution. He served as General Manager at L.R. Trucking in Boston for nearly two decades before launching his own enterprise with business partner, Ray, where he worked until retirement. Known for his unmatched work ethic and dedication to his profession, Jim also carried a lifelong passion for New England sports, especially the Red Sox and Celtics. He delighted in sharing stories of his youth about sneaking into Fenway Park and the old Boston Garden and meeting legends like Ted Williams and Sam Jones. Jim was married to Judith Rogers for 37 years, raising their family in Belmont. He was a loving and involved father to his three children: Nicolas, Rachel, and Andrew, coaching youth sports, pitching countless hours of batting practice, and serving as chauffeur to early morning hockey games. Many will remember him as a vocal enthusiast from the sidelines. His competitive spirit and sense of humor live on in family stories. In his later years, Jim found great joy as "Grampy" to his cherished grandchild, Ryan Coffey; and shared companionship and laughter with his dear friend, Heidi Behrend. He also maintained treasured lifelong friendships, including those with Joe Rogers and Carol Way Wood. Jim's remains will be interred at Lincoln Cemetery beside his parents. A Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date.
