SAMPLES, James A. Age 66, residing in Worcester, passed into the loving arms of God on Sunday, January 6, 2019, after battling lung cancer for over a year. He is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Michelle S. Lord Samples; his daughter Lindsey LeMasurier and her husband Jason of Tyngsboro; and his stepson Nathaniel Berry and his wife Kristy of Sterling. James was the proud grandfather to Madison, Vincent, Emma, and Joseph. He also leaves three sisters: Jessica Flaherty and her husband Edward of Malden, Judith Hamel of Seabrook, NH, and Janet Burke-McKennon and her husband William of Winthrop, MA; and his mother-in-law Olga Winogradow of Belgium; many nieces and nephews, and uncles and aunts. He was predeceased by a sister, Jennifer M. Samples, who died in 2002. James was the founder and owner of the James Samples CPA, MST, of Upper Newton Falls. Visiting Hours: Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 9, from 4PM to 7PM in the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., WORCHESTER. My husband and I became clients of Jim the year he opened his own CPA office and remained with him until a recent move to Arizona. He was a compassionate, exceptionally competent and ethical accountant. Although we never met Jim outside of his office, he always remembered us, our children, and our concerns and struggles. He was supportive and caring when our son died and through my husband's descent into Alzheimer's. As you struggle with your sorrow, please remember the positive effect he had on so many lives. My prayers are with all of his family.

When I think of Jimmy, I think of love and happiness. What a great smile! We always looked forward to his visits, whether to my parents' house in Brockton or on the Cape. James was wonderful man who I got to meet for a short period of time. He was loving, caring and a true man of God. He loved people, loved Excel and a true servant to others. More importantly, he loved his Lord above all, who he now is with for eternity, with no more pain but true joy. We all will certainly miss him and loved him dearly. I pray that God blesses his family with the comfort of knowing he is home, and that peace, strength and comfort come to his wife and family...Psalm 119:28- My soul is weary with sorrow strengthened me according to your word...Isaiah 33:2- Lord, be gracious to us we long for you. Jim was someone who saw things in me that I was unable to see myself. He was generous with this time, and there was no shortage of encouragement and friendship I received from this man. My life became much richer because of his influence, and helped kick start me down a path I never thought possible.
