JAMES TRAVIS

TRAVIS, James Of South Boston, passed away on February 17, 2023. Loving son of the late Robert H. and Mary (Loftus) Travis. Devoted brother of Robert H. Travis, Jr. and his wife Christine of Hingham. Cherished uncle of Robert H. Travis, III and his wife Pamela of Scarborough, ME and Nicole Travis Smith and her husband James of Hanover, MA. Great-uncle of Phoebe, Abigail and Benjamin. Jim was a lifelong resident of South Boston and was a Graduate of Gate of Heaven High School. He attended Boston State College and received his Master's in Instructional Design from UMASS Boston. Jim worked every day with those degrees perfecting Training Programs at both the United States Postal Service and the MWRA until his retirement. Jim was an avid walker and a friendly face on the streets of Southie or Castle Island. He loved to travel and often spoke of his trips to Montreal or his annual trips to Lake George for the Antique Car Shows. Jim was also a huge fan of computer technology and always up on the latest trends (lovingly known by his family as "Tech Support"). Visitation will be in the O'Brien Funeral Home, 146 Dorchester St., SOUTH BOSTON, on Thursday, March 2nd from 4-8 pm. Funeral Mass in Gate of Heaven Church, 615 East Fourth Street, South Boston, on Friday, March 3rd at 10 am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment at Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jim Travis may be made to The Pat Roche Hospice Home, 86 Turkey Hill Lane in Hingham, MA 02043.
