Yukie and I were shocked to hear of Jim's passing; I worked with Jim at IBM in Tokyo and again at San Jose and those were some of my best memories from my IBM career, Jim was one of the few people I thought of as a superb executive and a superb person. I remember once in Tokyo when my assignment was nearing an end Jim pulled some strings to get it extended and I remember him telling me that he wasn't doing it because I was such a great employee, but because I had just started seriously dating Yukie and he didn't want to break up our romance by sending me back to the US and getting her mad at him. Well, 30 years later we're still married so he did us both a great favor and we won't ever forget it. Please accept our belated but sincere sympathies for your loss.

Oh I am sorry for you loss. Louise, I think about the kindness, generosity and the time I shared with yall when you lived in Austin. I was just working on a piece of furniture that has some Japanese characteristics. And thought of yall, wonder if I could find them and say hello. And find this sad message at the top of my search. My heart goes out to you and your family. - Hank Waddell
